We all slept in a little and had a leisurely morning since Michael’s shots wouldn’t be ready until late morning. I’m not sure what you’d call a breakfast that includes oatmeal, dutchies, apple turnovers, yogurt, blackberries, bananas and copious amount of coffee, but that’s what we had.

We arrived at camp late the night before so didn’t pay. This morning as we left the booth was still empty. I booked it for tonight just so we could get the campground what we owed it.

The first stop of course was the hospital. Gary and I set up shop in the parking lot while Michael waited for about 2 hours to get the needles.

Grabbed lunch at the European bakery in Owen Sound and ate at a park around the corner. It was 2 before we were on the road proper and out of that god forsaken town. No offense intended, but Owen Sound is a total shithole. Good riddance.
The riding today was a pretty short 60 km. Again, a little rec trail, some fast rolling lakeside pavement, some gravel and some terribly overgrown vaguely track like spots. We unanimously agree the rough sections of the Alton Thompson trail were the most fun.

We’re camped tonight at Memorial Park in Meaford. It’s a municipal RV park. Nice beach, but otherwise the best that can be said about it is that some campground had to be the worst of the trip.
If you think sea-doos are annoying, you would probably agree that a grown man ripping a high end remote control boat at an otherwise quiet beach is just as bad. I also don’t have kind things to say about the young men doing laps around the grounds in a monster truck with the onboard sound system turned up to 11.

At this point we are about a day behind our initial rough plans. So the idea now is to ride to Craigleith Provincial Park just this side of Collingwood tomorrow (110 km), then to Mansfield Outdoor Rec Centre on Friday (100 km) and home on Saturday. We will be skipping about 200 km of the actual route and we’re all ok with that. We never planned to close the loop completely.
We have 3 more days to find a butter tart.

Still a great trip even if you aren’t riding as far as originally planned. A few hiccups along the way – rain delay, Michael’s shots….. again, still a great trip. It been entertaining for those of us reading the blog, admiring the photos. It all looks peaceful. Enjoy and hope you find your butter tart.
I once had a wonderful Canadian colleague bring in butter tarts to the office. I hope you find them!
