We rolled out of the campground at about 9:45 and headed to the main strip of Collingwood for second breakfast. The place we were looking for was closed but they recommended another the corner. Breakfast poutine is a new favorite of mine – poached eggs, home fries, sausage, bacon, onion, cheese and hollandaise. The waitress said so one ever finishes it. I proved her wrong.

The fuel was appreciated an hour later when we arrived at the wall. This climb is described thusly in the route file.

It’s pretty clear in the ride card down at the bottom of this post. basically it’s 2.5 km of double digit gradient. I saw 19% on my cycling computer at one point. Not easy riding. Here’s a view from almost the top the Michael took. He was too far ahead to even see me and Gary making our way up.

However, immediately after getting to the top we were rewarded with some gorgeous forested trail riding.

After some more up and down we arrived at 5 km of unmaintained trails. It was a little spicy and bushwacky.

And frankly, the hills and the chunk never really stopped all day.

It was all pretty beautiful and the climbs were fun. But not fast. We ended up racing (again) to make it to camp before the office closed and the sun went down. We achieved the former but not the latter. I don’t know what it is with Mansfield, but it’s so cold here. Can see our breath in August!

Home tomorrow.

OMG. What a ride! That’s some of the most beautiful scenery you have ever posted Chaddo. And the climb, I wouldn’t like that in a car much less on a bike. Your breakfast looked delicious. There was no doubt in my mind you finished it. They say all good things must come to an end…….enjoy your last day on the Butter Tart Express. Ride safe.
Wow, what a climb. Love the description of “The Wall”.
Love that forest journey!
It was pretty great
Wish I could have been on that top hill… 😀
All you need to do is the work of getting up there 🙂
