I’ll probably be biking for 12 days and spending three or four with Karen at Marie and Julian’s place in Montague PEI.
Today I decided to channel my inner Frankie and relax a little. He was world class in this regard. I am in Norte dame du lac at a lakeside municipal campground, a solid 50 km short of the provincial park I was aiming for. It is a totally decent little spot. I am very close to a national park but it is across the lake and would have been an extra half day ride to get to it. Next time!

The day stared with me rush riding 30 km to rivière du Loup to eat before video chatting with Karen while frank was put down. That was very sad. I cried intermittently throughout the day.
Still, the ride was incredible. I was on a trail – route vert 8 sud – for 80 km after that. In fact, it was the best cycling infrastructure I have ever seen. Every 10 km or so there were benches, water pumps and/or even little honour system camp sites just for cyclists (pic 2). The sites had toilets, tent platforms, bbqs, fire pits and wood for $5. Even the rest stops with benches were in very nice spots and people took time to build beautiful viewing areas (pic 3). Sadly, I crossed the campsites way too early in the day to stop for the night.

Besides that, the trail was through some very nice forest. I am super impressed.

I also chatted with a few nice couples today. One set is driving around Quebec and doing day bikes rides and another who used to do cycle touring but ‘took time off to get fat’. They were jealous.
So 112 km today and I am going to have to adjust the next few days to compensate for my short day.
