We somehow turned today into 76 miles / 128 km. Note to self: add 10% distance and 50% duration to Google maps bike routes.
The day started with the most stunning 5 miles of biking I can imagine on the Deschutes River Trail. It was a dirt trail at some points a foot wide through the kind of place you wouldn’t be surprised to spot a hobbit. Stunning.

This spat us out into Sunriver where we spent a lot of time riding in circles looking for the perfect retirement home. Or maybe we were just lost. Awesome paved bike trails everywhere so not a bad place to spin your wheels. The place was a living brochure for healthy, happy and moneyed retirement.
We had lunch in La Pine. Rode highway 97 for an hour to Crescent. You must have to remove a tooth to become a resident of the latter.

Another hour and a half and we arrived at Crescent Lake Resort to a comfy and rickety cabin. Dinner on a patio overlooking the lake.

Spoke to the waitress about our shortish planned route for tomorrow and she said no way Jose. So we have another big one up to crater lake. About 75 miles and perhaps 5000 feet. At least this time we know we can do it and it will be sunny and warm.
