First, sorry about ccing everyone about yesterday’s post. I should have bcced. But I hadn’t had the requisite 12 oz of coffee yet so can’t really be held responsible. You’re all good people so I’m not too worried.
Also. I hate it when a decent tool (Mailchimp, the email platform), gets bought out by a big player (Intuit) and quickly descends into money grabbing junk. I’ll be changing the email system when I get back home and am forced to be in front of a computer again 😥
Woke up this morning in a San Francisco level fog, but could faintly make out a big old white circle in it. 2 hours later there was blazing sun and warmth. It was a short jorts and sleeves up day! Good weather is a good thing.
I’ve mentioned this already, but the section of the badger divide/NR7 I’ve been on for the last two days is spectacular riding. Mixed surfaces, just hilly enough to keep it interesting, great scenery, a lot of variety. I’d be happy to ride tracks like this forever.
Don’t have much to report otherwise. It was a short ride today and I didn’t stop anywhere. There is a famous cycling cafe in Aberfoyle I wanted to visit, but it’s closed on Tuesday, damn the luck.
Meals were comprised of whatever leftovers were in my bags. Horror of all horrors my fuel canister ran dry this morning (just after getting close enough to boiling water for my second 12 oz) which would have prevented me from a morning coffee tomorrow if it weren’t that this campground sells the stuff starting at 7. Guess what time I’ll be getting up tomorrow ☀️☕️
The hills are behind me now and I have a smooth and simple (knock on wood) 35 km to Glasgow tomorrow. I’m not sure I’m ready to mingle with the gen pop but don’t have much of a choice.

Did a little pre celebration at camp just 15 minutes ago.

Also, not that I keep track of biking things or anything 🤣, but I did surpass 1000 km for this trip today. I’m curious to see how the elevations compare to Colombia when all is said and done.

I’m sad to see this end. Your blogs are the highlight of my day (that’s kind of sad, right?). Such beautiful scenery…..wide open spaces. Good choice for your celebration. Enjoy your last night of camping. Smooth sailing tomorrow. Love, Mom
I’m ready but of course also sad it’s almost done.
Can’t go wrong with chocolate fudge and brownie. I hope tomorrow is another highlight day to wrap up the bike leg of this trip. Have you considered Camino de Santiago for your next walk ride adventure?
I think I inherited my sweet tooth from you. Yes, we’ve talked about the Camino.
Enjoyed the short but sweet video.
I’m just amazed that you carried a freezer all that way! 😉
Thanks for dragging us along, at least. It’s been a very enjoyable ride.
Hey Chad,
Looking forward to seeing you. I’m glad the trip seems to have had all the things you look for in a challenge. Impressed that you repaired your “engine” at the side of a trail ..got a couple of wild camps in..had some stretches of time to just yourself, your bike and the trail, and worked your magic with mother nature and didn’t spend ten days soaked to the skin. Best of luck coming back into the many many people just milling around you : ) PS Thanks for bringing me along!
I gotta say, I much more enjoyed this one than the trials and tribs of the Colombia trip, which I imagine were even worse for the guy in the jorts. If you are planning to bike the camino let me know. I have to finish that thing, which I started in 2010. 🙂
lol. This trip was less dramatic for sure
