A few months back, I got this email.

Ummm

Of course I applied. Weeks went by without a word. I slowly and reluctantly let go of the dream. Too good to be true. Then I got the call.
I have been selected to ride a bike a little over 500 km from my house to Ottawa. This is the first (if heading east) of three segments of the complete route between Toronto and Quebec City. I need to follow the route ACA has provided, keep notes on conditions, features and highlights, add POIs to a map, and take pictures. I get to directly contribute to the activity I love most by doing the activity I love most in order to make the experience better for others who choose to ride it in the future. I feel like I’ve found god or something. Or god found me. Little old me.
Did I mention this is a paid gig? Like a job. Its a work trip 😂.
Leaving Wednesday. Hell yeah!
So great.
And, I beat mom to this post: she’s of course already in bed I presume.
Haha
I read it before I went to bed. I was too tired to comment. Pet sitting took a toll on me! But we’re home now with just Reggie instead of Reggie, Sally, Bunny and 5 chickens or is it 7?? Looks like it will be an easy trip for you. Have a great time. Looking forward to your blogs again. Safe biking.
So can I assume you’re an actual paid member of Adventure Cycling? I don’t think I’ve had that status since 2004, since they didn’t seem to be doing much for the Great White North. It’s good to see they are, now.
To be honest, I’m not totally sure if I am or not. Clearly I’m on the mailing list though. They also just made a route in BC.
They couldn’t have picked a better guy. You’d a prolly paid them for the opportunity. Your blogs are concise, descriptive and colorful. Looking forward to accompanying you virtually on another ride. Stay safe, Chaddo.
