I’ll update this post when I have a few minutes but it probably won’t be ready before the email gets sent.
Today is a blur.
The rain started in the middle of last night. And continued until about 9. I used it as an excuse to not get out of the tent until almost then. I was tired
Hauled myself and all my stuff to a covered pavilion about 300 meters away to have breakfast and pack up.

So I didn’t end up leaving until about 11. I figured this was fine since at most I expected to ride 125 km.
Back on the trails, including some I was in with karen a few weeks ago when we rented a cabin in the area. They were all very smooth today.

First stop was Perth. I was so excited to see a deli / bakery and even more so when I saw the first item on the menu was a meatball sandwich. However, there was a family of 6 in front of me in line and watching them try to decide then order what each person wanted drove me insane. So I went to the other counter and got simpler food. Including a peanut butter chocolate butter tart.

An hour and a half later in smiths falls I got a donair. Didn’t need it, but enjoyed it all the same.
The rain was on and off all day. Not nearly as bad as forecast. But every time I dried out it started again. By smiths falls I knew I’d make it to the campground I was aiming for. I messaged Ethan who lives in Ottawa and who I had plans to meet Monday morning to see if he was available Sunday. Nope.
I have been working regularly with Ethan for over a decade. He’s been 50% of my work that who time. We’ve met in person 3 times only, so I wanted to make something work. Decided to aim for dinner tonight and I’d find a hotel in town. I started pedaling faster.
Long story short, there are no hotel rooms available in Ottawa tonight. So I’m staying at Ethan’s. We went out for a late dinner and dessert. My bike is kinda sorta locked up in his parking garage. Cross your fingers and toes.

The official business part of the trip is done. I have some documentation to provide yet, but the riding is complete.
151 km / 515 m
Well done but the trip isn’t near long enough. I want more blogs. Rest up. How far will you ride to meet up with Karen?
only 125km – you slay me
why don’t you spend a little time with karen and then
continue your blog on your way to Val d’or
or Labrador City ; )
if you’re spending another night in Ottawa my summer place at 24 Sussex Dr is empty (you might have to fire your stove up for morning coffee )
Hahaha
YOU’RE ALREADY THERE?!
Just kidding, of course you are.
Rail trail is quick work 😉
Congrats, Chad. Enjoy the non-paying part of the ride now!
